Corrections

A claim we checked wrong is a claim we owe the reader back. This page says how that debt is paid.

  1. When we correct

We correct when a stated fact, a quoted figure, a regulator's position or a market comparison is shown to be wrong, or when an omission changes what a reader would reasonably conclude. Wording that reads better but means the same is not a correction and gets no note.

  2. What a correction looks like

The article is fixed in place. A dated line at the top says what was wrong, what it now says, and which document settled it. We do not delete the original claim from the record; we show the replacement beside it.

  3. Sources that move

Filings, recalls and label text change over time. When a source we cited is later revised, the article gets a dated update that names the new version and keeps the original date visible.
