Checked
- Scope
-
Applies to organic and natural cosmetic finished products and raw materials/ingredients worldwide. Under COSMOS ORGANIC, a certified product must derive at least 20% of its total ingredients (by weight, whole-product basis) from certified organic agriculture, reduced to at least 10% for rinse-off products and for products containing at least 80% mineral-origin ingredients, and physically processed agro-ingredients used in the formula must themselves be at least 95% organic. Certification against the standard is carried out by roughly a dozen COSMOS-authorised certification bodies operating in Europe, Australia, and Asia (including Ecocert, Cosmebio, ICEA, Soil Association, BDIH, Bureau Veritas, Australian Certified Organic, Control Union, and Korea Testing & Research). Note: some ingredient/product-percentage labeling display conventions are documented in COSMOS's separate Labelling Guide, which was not independently verified in this pass.
